传说典故
荷花相传是王母娘娘身边的一个美貌侍女——玉姬的化身。当初玉姬看见人间双双对对，男耕女织，十分羡慕，因此动了凡心，在河神女儿的陪伴下偷出天宫，来到杭州的西子湖畔。西湖秀丽的风光使玉姬流连忘返，忘情地在湖中嬉戏，到天亮也舍不得离开。王母娘娘知道后用莲花宝座将玉姬打入湖中，并让她“打入淤泥，永世不得再登南天”。从此，天宫中少了一位美貌的侍女，而人间多了一种玉肌水灵的鲜花。[26]
